Dear Parents and Community Members,
As we progress through the 3rd quarter, we are paying close attention to the level of work that we teach our students. Much of our conversation around campus focuses on preparing our students for the Arizona Common Core Standards, which will will go into effect in two years. On the surface much of the student work will look the same, but the level of knowledge and higher order thinking skills required for students to master a concept has been raised.
At every grade level planning meeting , our teachers share ideas with their peers and evaluate their upcoming assignments to see if it matches the level of rigor that is needed to be successful.
As a staff and a district, it is imperative that our students are ready to meet the demands of a modern society and to learn to be responsible citizens. Please take a few moments to review the links below to find some sample problems. If you have any questions about the standards, please contact me at anytime.
As a school community, we have a high expectation of learning for our students and expect them to reach their goals. It is our privilege to serve the Diamondback school community.
Regards,
Martin Muecke
